Summerhill Infant School Curriculum

At Summerhill Infant School we are committed to delivering our comprehensive and compelling curriculum which nurtures, supports and inspires each child.  Our thematic curriculum is designed to reflect the children’s interests and motivations and lays the foundation for a lifetime love of learning.  It provides all children with opportunities to make links between their learning, to be inquisitive, to explore their world, to have fun and grow their friendships as they learn and play.

At Summerhill Infant School we have high aspirations for all learners and want all of our pupils to ‘be the best that they can be.’  We provide a highly inclusive environment where all learners are supported and challenged through appropriate learning experiences.  Where children may sometimes find learning more challenging than their peers, we adapt our provision, where appropriate, and ensure relevant and targeted support is available to ensure that all children are able to make progress and that the individual needs of all children are met.  We are limitless in our expectations and encourage all children to rise to any challenge that they meet.

We constantly review our curriculum in order for it to be relevant and of interest to the children, providing them with the knowledge and skills they need for the next stages of their lives. The knowledge and skills the children need to learn have been carefully sequenced to allow children opportunity to revisit and build upon their learning each year.
