During the period of National Lockdown, most Pupils learnt remotely. At Summerhill Infant School we used Google Classroom as a platform to teach and support children whilst they had to learn from home.

We have continued to use Google Classroom as a way of providing learning and consolidation activities for those who are absent for long periods of time and to supplement the learning on a daily basis at school.

The school worked hard with local technology retailers to ensure every single child at Summerhill Infant School could use a Chromebook throughout their school career, effectively ending the economical technology divide some families encounter.

All children and families receive log in details for Google Classroom, allowing them to access their learning online each week and for Parents/Carers to support learning at home, where possible.

Reading books: It is really important for children to keep enjoying reading opportunities on a daily basis. Reading books can be changed on a daily basis at school and they will also be given a reading text linked to their phonological development by the Class Teacher to read each week.
